Incomplete metamorphosis occurs in the grasshopper. In incomplete metamorphosis, the insect goes through three stages: egg, nymph, and adult. The nymph stage resembles the adult stage but lacks wings and reproductive organs. Grasshoppers belong to the order Orthoptera, which undergo incomplete metamorphosis. Butterflies and mosquitoes undergo complete metamorphosis, while houseflies undergo a type of complete metamorphosis called holometabolous development.
